The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiver Path
by Emma Heming Willis

Join current and former ALS caregivers for an ALS Society of Alberta Book Club to foster community and share common experiences.

Along with host Kelsie Snow, who was the primary caregiver for her husband, Chris, during his 4.5-year ALS journey, this book club will read Emma Heming Willis’s memoir, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path.

Groups are capped at 8 people. Morning and evening sessions are offered to support caregiver schedules.

As a bereaved caregiver, discussions with current caregivers can assist me with healing certain aspects of my own grief. In turn, I hope current caregivers hearing from bereaved caregivers lends some gentle hope to what can be such a challenging caregiving experience.

The Book Club offered by the ALS Society of Alberta provides a sacred space for these thoughtful discussions. I’m grateful.
